Safari dresses

The lastest summer dresses are girly and frilly and floaty. Most of them anyway. Except for the classic safari dress, the shirt dress.

For the safari look, earth tones abound. This is the time girls with golden skin and those who look better in earthy shades should do their shopping. Not just the shirt dresses alone. Virtually everything from tops, to skirts to pants to shorts in khaki, white, browns and earthy shades are everywhere, and no longer just in linen and rugged fabrics. These come in silk and satin too.

Summer and sizzling heat go hand in hand. Bright sunlight make safari colors and brights look best.

Here's a khaki shirt dress that depicts the current trend perfectly. Pity it comes in only one size for thin girls.

Cuffed Sleeve Shirtdress White / One Size

By the way, if you can wear those one size fits all dresses for slimmer figures, get that dress. It is a classic and a steal.

The Problem With This Summer's Dresses

I have a blog about dresses and normally, I'd rave about them. Basically, I love dresses. The way the flatter any female figure is phenomenal.. normally.. until now.

I hate to say it but this season, it is so hard to find a dress that make a woman look sexy. Unless you find the pregnant and about to deliver look alluring.

I don't know about you but I like dresses that shows off a woman's figure. You know, the kind that makes you look curvy, with a smaller waist than you really have. Basically, I like the way earlier season's dresses gave you an hourglass figure and allowed you to fake one even if you don't.

Unfortunately, this Spring/Summer 2008, the dresses make every woman who is not a size 0 look pregnant. It even makes size 0s look like they could lose some weight. Dresses are meant to be flattering.
HELLO!!! what happened?

Today's billowy tent *shudder* dresses are great if you want a seat on the bus, or the train as most people would get up to give a seat for a pregnant woman. Might as well accept since you'd look that way if you wear the shapeless dresses the way they were shown on the catwalks.

Yes! No shape is the new shape! Well... duh.

Enough complaining. The situation is still salvagable. You can still look great in this season's dresses if you belt them to cinch your waist. These belts are seasonless. Actually, the latest belts are featured there even though the page talks about 2007 spring fashion.
